Spain has announced an extraordinary regularisation process currently under regulatory development, aimed at granting legal status to people already living in the country and providing legal certainty and access to rights. The measure has been announced by the Government but is not yet in force.
What is this regularisation about?

Who may be eligible?

People who have lived continuously in Spain for at least 5 months before 31 December 2025

Asylum seekers who applied for international protection before that date

Applicants must have no criminal record

The process will remain open until 30 June 2026
What does the authorisation allow?

Legal residence and work authorisation throughout Spain

Permission to work in any sector, without additional administrative hurdles

Initial validity of one year, with the obligation to move into ordinary residence routes afterwards
